Welcome to cover my bum!  I am the CEO & Founder of cover my bum, and I appreciate you taking a few moments to learn about us.

For me, doing triathlons is like falling in love.  It’s hard work, and it can be painful, challenging, and humbling.  And yet, after all of the training and racing, I only remember feeling happy, invigorated, peaceful, and like I have grown just a bit more as a person.

I have loved triathlons since my first race in 1999.  Near Denver (where I live), there is a beautiful gravel pond in Chatfield State Park where many swimmers and triathletes practice open water swimming.  I love to swim at Chatfield. 

While swimming at Chatfield, I saw that nearly all of the triathletes and swimmers used ordinary cotton towels to dry off.  They also used those cotton towels to cover themselves while changing clothes.  I did, too.

But, my cotton towel never worked just right for training.  My towel was always bulky and took up too much space in my bag.  After I used it to dry off, it would be wet and heavy.  Worst of all, I tried to use my cotton towel to cover myself while changing clothes.  It usually fell down, so I was always accidentally naked outside.  (Believe me, being accidentally naked is much worse when the people around you are triathletes with ripped muscles and zero body fat).

I figured there had to be a better way to change clothes after swimming.  Through much trial and error, I created a towel that could I could securely attach around myself so that it never fell down while I changed clothes.  The fabric was light-weight, compact, dried quickly, and was naturally anti-microbial.  And, unlike Velcro, the buckle/strap combination never damaged my swimsuit or other triathlon gear.

Throughout 2009 and 2010, several triathletes and I tested various prototypes.  We found  the cover my bum prototype towels easy to use.  And, our self-esteem went way up when we weren't accidentally naked next to superstar athletes.

As we near the end of 2010, we also approach the end of our prototype stage.  We are closer than ever to sharing cover my bum towels with the world!  We are really excited to bring cover my bum towels to life very soon.  We look forward to bringing you the best EVER towel for sports and recreation!
